Last season: 17-2; Division I state champions. This season: 0-1. Outlook: The Hornets lost plenty from last year’s championship squad — 16 players graduated that provided offense, defense and leadership. For Essex to win a fourth crown since 2007, it will need a new crop to rise to the challenge.

Auburn to host 2011 SEC women’s golf tournament
Auburn University will host the 2011 Southeastern Conference Women’s Golf Tournament April 15-17 at the Auburn University Club. Eight SEC teams are ranked in the top 25 of the Golf World/NGCA Coaches’ Poll, including Auburn at No. 20.

York JV Golf
GRAND ISLAND — The York junior varsity golf team was in action at the Northwest JV Invite on Wednesday at Jack Rabbit Run Golf Course. The GINW Black team finished first followed by Aurora, St. Cecilia, Grand Island Senior High and GICC Blue in the top five.
