correct grip, weight transfer, ball position, follow through, work those knees.
I know you just said to not say anything about tees, but try practicing a bit using tees with your high irons that you are having trouble hitting. Hitting it off of a tee will help you to produce better, more consistent shots from those hard to hit clubs and will thus increase your confidence with them. Try using a tee at first on a driving range, then when you think you are ready, take the tee away and I think you will find the results you were looking for.
Practice, Practice, Practice….. haha the best and most guaranteed way… best of luck…
take lessons or practice your swing on the driving range try putting more power in your swing
Practice on your swing and distance(Hitting the ball harder and with more accuracy).Getting an indoor putter device(is good practice for control of the force of hitting the ball too.
There are 2 requisites to improving in anything. Lessons and practice. Lessons from a Teaching Pro will find and remove your swing flaws. Practice to ingrain those changes. Improvement of your swing will provide you with more distance because you will be making better contact.
It’s kind of hard to explain, but imagine that you are swinging the club… On the down stroke, the club speed is at it’s max. What you want to practice, is as the club swings down try to maintain the club’s speed by simply following through.
Most people think, “the harder I swing, the longer distance I will get”… WRONG! when you agressively hit the ball, you tend to “miss hit”, missing the “sweet spot” and topping the ball or slicing.
So, what you should try to do is follow through gradually. As you practice, you’ll swing faster & faster as you master maintanig a max club speed.
It may take a while, but it works! I learned this teqnique from a pro named Dick Mcchane.
Try it, you will be impressed!
Good Luck!
Well I only can say what my instructor said to me another day. He said I have to use my shoulders to make the swing and not my hand. Another problem I have is the head. Must stay still. And I could see that folloing those simple rules it works for me. Have you lessons?
I have encountered this problem myself. Every time I pushed to break into the 90′s, then the 80′s and now the 70′s I had to hit thousands of balls. Think about it, if you shoot in the 90′s, then when you play a round, you only hitting 90 balls. If you go to the range and hit the x-large bucket, there are typically 200 to 250 balls. If you want to see the fastest results, here’s a scheadule you can live by and you’ll see the improvements.
Sunday-100-200 balls
monday-rest
Tuesday 200-300 balls
wednesday rest
thursday 300-350 balls
friday rest
saturday- 1 round of golf, then 200 balls.
Work your problem areas from that day.
If you’ll do this for a month, assuming your handicap is 15+ you will knock off 3 to 5 strokes in 1 month. If you stay consistent, in one year you should drop about 10 strokes if physically possible.
I’m 29, been playing 2 and a half years and sitting about a 6 hadicap. (and I’m barely athletic)
The practice promotes consistency and dedication to see results that last.
Good luck and keep trying.
